If You Crush Vitamin C And Add It To Your Shampoo, Here`s What Happens!

Besides for treating dandruff, dandruff shampoo is also used for certain scalp infections like seborrheic dermatitis. The medical name for  dandruff shampoo is selenium sulfide which is basically an anti-infective medication. In other words it stops the growth of yeast responsible for the infection. It can also be used for treating conditions like skin discoloration.

Clearly, dandruff shampoo has far more uses beyond treating dandruff. These are some of them:

  1. Acne

Zinc pyrithione is an ingredient contained in some anti-dandruff shampoos that kills acne-causing bacteria. If you have acnes try washing your face with anti-dandruff shampoo and let it soak into the skin for several minutes before rinsing. This will work for body acnes too.

  1. Athlete`s Foot

Thanks to its anti-fungal properties, dandruff shampoo kills the fungus on the feet. So if you have Athlete`s foot, wash your feet with anti-dandruff shampoo.

  1. Inflamed Eyelids

American Optometric Association explains that dandruff may cause inflamed eyelids, a condition known as blepharitis. The advice is to wash the hair with anti-dandruff shampoo in order to prevent dandruff-causing bacteria from growing on the eyelids.

  1. Rosacea

Besides dealing with acnes, the zinc pyrithione found in anti-dandruff shampoos fights off the skin condition known as rosacea as well. Just wash the affected area with the shampoo every couple of days.

  1. Tinea Versicolor

This is a yeast condition that has symptoms like skin rash of scattered brown, pink or white patches that itch. If you have this condition, it is recommended to wash the whole body with anti-dandruff shampoo every couple of days.

  1. Remove Chlorine

It is good for swimmers to wash their hair with anti-dandruff shampoo after every swim in order to remove toxic chlorine from their hair and scalp.

  1. Scalp Dermatitis

To treat scalp dermatitis, follow the instructions given by your doctor or the ones outlined by the manufacturer. Wet the scalp and massage the shampoo onto the moist scalp. Let the shampoo work for a couple of minutes before rinsing it off.

  1. Reverse Hair Dye

This happens very often for women: they dyed their hair and they didn’t like the color because it came out too dark. If you are in the same situation just try the following method:

Ingredients:

  • A couple of vitamin C tablets (around 500mg)
  • Anti-dandruff shampoo
  • A teaspoon to crush up the tablets
  • A container to mix up the mixture in

Instructions:

  • Crush the vitamin C tablets using a teaspoon
  • Add some shampoo and mix well to avoid lumpy bits
  • Apply the mixture to wet hair, massing it into the lengths and the scalp
  • Wrap the hair in a plastic bag/ cling-film
  • Let it work for 45 minutes
  • Rinse well and apply a conditioner
  • Repeat the procedure once daily for the next couple of days until any trace of the hair dye is removed

Note: The result depends on your hair`s condition, the dye used, and the amount of vitamin C you use.
